Mini Grants

Through the Mini Grant awards, teachers have been able to purchase:

  • Special supplemental books for various elementary grades.
  • Spanish books for our growing population of Spanish-speaking students to take home so parents can read to them.
  • English language learners for middle and high school students.
  • Equipment for various classrooms such as the Math Explorer calculators for learning disabled students, autoharps for music program.
  • Equipment for students to do environmental studies at Iowa Lakeside Lab
  • Total Awarded -- $10,042

2006-2007 Grants

  • $422 - Interactive Leap Pad Books for TK-1st
  • $800 - 2007 World Book Encyclopedia for grades 2-5 for library
  • $560 - Guided Reading book sets for 1st grade
  • $655 - Adventure Books for 4th grade Social Studies curriculum
  • $500 - Purchased reading books to be given to students during the annual Book Fair
  • Total Awarded -- $2,937

2005-2006 Grants

  • $360 - Replacement of CD players for TK-1st grades
  • $858 - Leap Pad books, headphones, & adaptors for TK-1st grade
  • $185 - Books to be used in the "at-risk" program for 2nd-5th grade
  • $197 - books for the accelerated reader program in 2nd-5th grade
  • Total Awarded -- $1,600

 

2004-2005 Grants

  • $320 - Reading literature for at-risk 4th and 5th graders
  • $590 - "Read Naturally" materials for grades 2-5
  • $588 - Elementary "Character Education" material
  • $264 - 4th grade reading curriculum paperback books
  • $283 - Classic literature on tape for the resource room
  • $645 - Equipment that doubles the number of students that will be able to attend the Iowa Lakeside Lab for environmental studies
  • Total Awarded -- $2,690

2003-2004 Grants

  • $370 - Two autoharps for elementary music
  • $500 - Middle school accelerated reading program
  • 367 - Multimedia for middle and high school ESL classes
  • $370 - Special ed low & high-tech assistive technology tools
  • $208 - ELL program computer CDs
  • $209 - Middle school low level reading books
  • Total Awarded -- $2,024

2002-2003 Grants

  • $450 to the 1st grade for take home books

  • $841 to the elementary library for books for struggling readers

  • Total Awarded -- $1,291

 

 Individuals & businesses also helped to fund the following requests:

  • Linda Hughes: $40 for 3rd grade paperback books
  • Porter Funeral Home: $160 for six butterfly gardens
  • Al and Rita Burke: $338 for 4th grade paperback trade books
  • First State Bank: $967 for 12 computer scanners
